Albuquerque is considered a high desert, and its elevation is 5,312 ft above sea-level. The Sandia mountains are 10,200 ft above sea level, with some of the higher crests being 12,000 ft!

WHAT IS ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Also called mountain sickness, it is the negative health effect of high altitude, caused by rapid exposure to low amounts of oxygen at high elevation. Symptoms may include headaches, vomiting, tiredness, trouble sleeping, and dizziness.
